Seminar Review: Accurate FEA of Engineering Plastics
An intensive, one-day seminar, Accurate FEA of Engineering Plastics, was held in October, and the presentations are now available for review from the event host, CAE Associates, an engineering consulting firm and ANSYS channel partner. The seminar provided a combination of plastics materials theory and real simulation illustrations teaching attendees how to more accurately predict the structural behavior of plastic components. We highlight below certain topics of current interest:

Project Viewer, Collaboration, and DatapointLabs Apps Added to Matereality Software
To better support DatapointLabs' streamlined data delivery service, users of Matereality software will see new apps on the MyMatereality home page:
The newly enhanced Share capability makes it easier than ever to provide access to material properties data, CAE material models, and reports with colleagues. In your Library view, select one or more items, and click Share in the Tools menu to compose an email inviting recipients to view your data. If any recipients are not Matereality users, they will receive a prompt to create a Matereality login at no charge so they can view the data you shared. You can use the Activity Tracker app to monitor who has accessed the data you shared. |

New Fiber Orientation FEA TestPak for Autodesk® Simulation Composite Analysis
DatapointLabs has enhanced support for Autodesk Simulation products with the addition of a new TestPak, G-120, to our Test Catalog. This TestPak supplements an existing G-007 TestPak (Autodesk® Simulation Moldflow® Uncorrected Anisotropic Shrinkage) to add elasto-plastic modeling capability for FEA codes. The TestPak provides input material data necessary to account for anisotropic effects related to the injection molding of fiber-filled plastics when using Autodesk Simulation Composite Analysis. See our complete Test Catalog. |

New Staff Focuses on Verification & Validation
Megan Lobdell has joined DatapointLabs as a Junior Engineer. Megan is a recent graduate of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. She will combine her simulation and digital image correlation (DIC) skills to advance our verification and validation capabilities in the testing lab. Jeremy Conklin also has joined DatapointLabs as a Laboratory Technician. He brings a decade of experience to his new role, where he is focusing on thermal testing and machining, along with general laboratory support. Welcome, Megan and Jeremy! |
